Templates for NDSS Symposium 2025 and Co-located Events

The templates below should be used for all NDSS Symposium and co-located event papers. The symposium and each event has its own set of templates with different identifying information, including ISBN and DOI information. Please be sure to select the correct templates.

Note the templates supplied below may change prior to the final submission of the paper for publication. The final instructions will be communicated to authors of accepted papers by the Program Chairs or Publications Chairs of the respective events. Any changes to the templates will be minor.

Paper Formatting Instructions

Technical papers for NDSS and the other events should be written in English. Papers must be formatted for US letter size (not A4) paper in a two-column layout, with columns no more than 9.25 in. high and 3.5 in. wide. The text must be in Times font, 10-point or larger, with 11-point or larger line spacing.

Final camera-ready papers for the NDSS symposium must not exceed 18 pages total (including references and appendices) with no other restrictions. Authors may choose to use the 18 pages as they see fit (i.e., the main body without references and appendices does not have to stay within 13 pages limit stated in the CFP). Authors participating in the artifact evaluation will receive instructions from the chairs for using the materials from the dedicated archive.

The other events will have different page limits as stated in their respective CFPs and final camera-ready instructions.

Authors must use the templates and macros below.
Do not use macros that have similar/same names found on other sites since they could differ and result in incorrect formatting.

Submissions must be in Portable Document Format (PDF). Authors should pay special attention to unusual fonts, images, and figures that might create problems. Documents should render correctly in Adobe Reader when printed in black and white.

Author names, affiliations, and email addresses should not appear in initial submissions, which must be anonymous for the double-blind review process. For final camera-ready papers, each author’s name, organization name, and email address must appear in the author block under the title of the paper, with street and city information omitted, except when part of the organization’s name.

The NDSS block must appear at the bottom of the first column on the first page. The DOI must be:

https://dx.doi.org/10.14722/yyy.2025.[23$|$24]xxx

where:

23xxxx is used for the NDSS Summer Review Cycle and workshops,

24xxxx is used for the NDSS Fall Review Cycle,

xxxx or xxx are the paper number with leading zeros if needed, and

yyy is the identifier for the symposium or respective event (i.e., ndss, aiscc, bar, madweb, sdiotsec, spacesec, usec, vehiclesec, or wosoc).

For example:

Paper 2 from the NDSS Summer Review Cycle would have DOI https://dx.doi.org/10.14722/ndss.2025.230002,
Paper 157 from the NDSS Fall Review Cycle would have DOI https://dx.doi.org/10.14722/ndss.2025.240157,
Paper 1015 from the NDSS Fall Review Cycle would have DOI https://dx.doi.org/10.14722/ndss.2025.241015.

Page numbers must be included on all but the title page.

Tips and Common Issues

Here are some tips and common issues authors should consider when preparing their final camera-ready papers:

  • Compare the resulting paper to the pdf template to ensure it has the same look and feel
  • The title should be in Title Case and the font style and size should appear as in the pdf template
  • The NDSS block should sit above the bottom margin and not extend into the margin (this can happen if the provided version of IEEEtran.cls is not used)
  • Make sure the ISBN and DOI are completely filled in
  • All the pages except for the title page should be numbered
  • Check for and eliminate any widows or orphans at the top or bottom of each column on each page
  • The headings for the Acknowledgement and References sections should not be numbered
